Shooting at a 54 percent clip and holding their own on the glass helped New Mexico Highlands drop host Regis 73-61 on Saturday. It also salvaged a split of the Cowboys’ two-game stay in Denver.
Highlands is 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Cowboys were coming off their biggest test to date, Friday night’s 92-71 loss to Metro State, the No. 2 ranked team in NCAA Division II men’s basketball.
