Bonus basketball was in order Friday night, as New Mexico Highlands and Chadron State went into double overtime at the Wilson Complex.
Highlands won 89-86 aided by Lavell McDade’s free throw with five seconds to go. Chadron’s David Downey missed a three at the buzzer.
The score was knotted up at 69-69 at the end of regulation and 79-79 after one overtime session.
Highlands slipped to 5-9 overall and 3-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Eagles lost their fifth straight and dropped to 1-13 overall and 1-9 in the league.
