New Mexico Highlands’ wrestling team lost all three head-to-head team encounters in this past weekend’s Embry-Riddle Mile High Duals in Prescott, Ariz., but the Cowboys did have some strong individual performances.

Highlands lost 28-19 to host Embry-Riddle Aeronautical, 37-9 against Menlo College, and 39-8 vs. San Francisco State.

On a positive note, Cowboy 174-pounder Jesse Feinsod went 3-0. After picking up a forfeit vs. Embry-Riddle, Feinsod pinned Menlo’s Mike Cavanaugh in 2:38. Then he schooled San Francisco State’s Lucas Duckwall in a 15-0 technical fall.

Feinsod, Nick Sanchez (157), Luke McPeek (197) and Jesse Boggs (heavyweight) won matches against ERAU. Sanchez rolled Clark Hensley 12-6. McPeek pinned Ryan Van Doren in 2:33. Boggs topped Dan Brutinel via 9-1 major decision. At that point in the dual, Boggs’ win tied it 19-19, but ERAU won at 125 and 133 to pull back in front.

Feinsod and No. 2 heavy Louis Thornton broke Menlo’s would-be shutout. Thornton edged Nick Berry 2-1.

Feinsod and McPeek recorded victories against SFSU. McPeek prevailed 7-5 over Vince Bordi.
