County takes step toward liens

The San Miguel County Commission has taken another step toward revising its solid waste ordinance to slap liens on properties in which trash bills are unpaid.

At this week’s meeting, the commission unanimously voted for the ordinance to be published in the newspaper, a required step before voting on it.

The ordinance also would increase fines for illegal dumping from a maximum of $300 to $1,000.
