The Las Vegas Fire Department was asked to help fight fires in California, and the local agency responded by sending three of its members.
At last week’s City Council meeting, Las Vegas Fire Chief Andrew Duran honored the firefighters — Louie Mares, Nick Tyrone and Elauterio Montao — for their work in fighting the Golden State blazes.
Duran said he received a call asking for help and that a number of department members volunteered to go to California. He said he could send only three because he wanted to make sure Las Vegas was adequately covered.
