The city of Las Vegas fired back last week against allegations by the New Mexico Pipeline Safety Bureau that it likely violated safety requirements in the operation of its natural gas system.
The notice of probable violation stems from a Feb. 9 gas explosion and subsequent fire that destroyed the Church Street home belonging to John Singletary. Reports by the fire marshal’s office and the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission’s Pipeline Safety Bureau state that the explosion was caused by a leak in the city’s main natural gas line.
