City: Fireworks too dangerous

-A A +A

Governing body discouraging their sale and use

If you’re thinking about whether to buy fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday, Las Vegas Fire Chief Phillip Mares and the city’s governing body have a message for you: Please don’t.

The City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to adopt a resolution proclaiming that an emergency situation exists within the city due to dry, windy conditions and high fire hazard that represents a “significant and immediate threat to the safety, health and welfare” of city residents. The resolution discourages the sale and use of all fireworks in the area.
