Aliana Amour Trujillo arrived at 4:46 p.m. Jan. 1, becoming the first baby born at Alta Vista Regional Hospital in 2008. The baby girl weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 19 inches.

Mother April Trujillo said she was excited and surprised by all the attention she has received by giving birth to the first baby of the new year. She said all the nurses in the birthing ward have been very attentive and protective.

Trujillo especially wanted to thank attending nurse Trinnie Gallegos-Chavez, obstetrics technician Georgia Roybal and Dr. Jessica Roberts, who delivered baby Aliana. She said the hospital staff has made her feel like a star.

Aliana has a brother, Christopher Bernal, and her grandparents are Beatrice and Bernardo Trujillo. The first baby of the New Year will live with her mother in Chacon and becomes the fourth generation of the Trujillo family from the area.

Trujillo said her loving grandmother Vidilia Trujillo died June 5. “And now here’s this beautiful baby. With this new life, we look forward to a promising and happy New Year.”

Alta Vista spokesman Mathew Martinez said Aliana Amour would receive a gift basket full of clothes and many of the accessories a newborn needs.
