A couple of gritty matches proved costly for Robertson boys’ soccer over the weekend, and head coach Clarence Montoya said he’s looking forward to the laborious schedule easing up a bit in the days ahead.
“Some of the kids played six games this week, because some play both varsity and J.V.,” Montoya noted. “It won’t be as bad now the rest of September.”
That’s probably a good thing, considering Jalen Martinez, one of the Cardinals’ leading scorers, injured an ankle on Friday in a 2-1 loss to Monte del Sol. Two other players were missing from the match for different reasons.
Brandon Trujillo scored the lone goal for RHS.
Trujillo, assisted by Connor Houdek, scored for Robertson in a 1-0 win Saturday at Moreno Valley in Angel Fire.
