Robertson football team members learned their playoff fate Saturday evening, and it was much as coach Leroy Gonzalez expected.

The Cardinals (8-2) were awarded the No. 4 seed behind Lovington, Silver and Albuquerque Academy. Those four teams will have a bye through this coming weekend’s first round of the 12-team Class 3A bracket.

On the weekend of Nov. 19-20, Robertson will play the winner of this weekend’s game between No. 5 Hatch Valley and No. 12 Shiprock.

Meanwhile, No. 1 Lovington awaits the winner between No. 8 St. Michael’s and No. 9 Ruidoso. On the opposite half of the bracket, No. 2 Silver will play the winner between No. 7 Raton and No. 10 Hot Springs; and No. 3 Academy gets whoever wins the matchup between No. 6 Socorro and No. 11 Hope Christian.

Playoffs continue through Dec. 4’s final. Seedings were announced by the New Mexico Activities Association.
