In what has to be the most glaring, embarrassing football statistic was HU football going 0-15 in third down conversions last Saturday at Perkins Stadium against Division II, 7th-ranked Univ. Colorado/Pueblo Thunderwolves.
A quite simple statistic, how can the 'Pokes WIN if they can't convert? Simply because the Thunderwolves has the nation's leading Division II defense, allowing 11.2 points per game.
Even though the Cowboy defense was extremely good until the end of the 2nd quarter holding the 'Wolves to one conversion, 7-0, and another in the 3rd, to 14-0,HU defense was on the field more than 1/2 hour!
It was the 4th quarter that was HU's demise as CSU/Pueblo scored 23 unanswered points, winning 37-0.
Although no Cowboy defeat is accepted, it beats last years 66-0 blowout!
