WEDNESDAYMIERCOLES • The theme for Story Time at Carnegie Library will be “Our Universe” at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, in the children’s area at the library. The book will be “Martian Rock” by Carol Diggory Shields. The craft will be a pet rock. All programs are open to the public. • A ceremony to acknowledge the collaborative efforts between the City of Las Vegas, Office of the State Engineer, Rio Gallinas Acequia Association, Storrie Lake Water Users Association and Natural Resources Conservation District toward completion of the Storrie diversion weir, river gate and measuring structures will be held 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Luna Community College’s student services center conference room. A ribbon-cutting will be held at 11 a.m. on the same day at the Storrie headgate. This project was needed to solve a stream flow water management problem that was occurring at the Storrie Lake Project point of diversion on the Gallinas River. The river gate serves as the principal device for controlling irrigation water, storm runoff, and heavy spring flows downstream.     SUNDAYDOMINGO • The Las Vegas Elks Lodge will be holding its annual Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 4, at the Robertson football field. • First United Methodist Church at 715 National Ave. will welcome the Highlands University Faculty Brass Quintet to worship services at 11 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 4. All are invited to celebrate in this musical worship service.
