Two brothers have been arrested in connection with assaulting two people at a gasoline station in the Valley, state police said.

The two suspects are Richard Joseph Griego, 21, and Christopher Griego, 19, both of whom live in Villanueva, state police said. They face charges of robbery, two counts of assault, conspiracy and burglary.

According to Magistrate Court documents, one of the alleged victims reported that he was at the Sunshine Station in Villanueva shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

The alleged victim told officers that when he was at the station, two men in another car approached him and asked for a cigarette. When the alleged victim told them he didn’t smoke, one of the suspects asked for his wallet, state police said. The alleged victim gave his wallet, which contained $40, noticing that one of them had a handgun.

An hour and a half later, another alleged victim reported that he was delivering newspapers when he heard a man telling him to give up his wallet, court documents state. The alleged victim thought it was a relative trying to fool him.

He later identified the suspects in a photo lineup, according to documents.

State police said the Griegos were in a car belonging to their mother.

Officers also investigated a burglary at the gasoline station in which eight cartons of cigarettes, 10 lottery tickets, a donation jar, four cigars and a metal shelf were stolen. State police said they found some of the items in the suspects’ car.
