Breaking: Salazar, Ortiz take East board seats

The results of the Las Vegas City Schools Board races are in, and Ernesto Salazar has been re-elected for the Position 1 board seat.

In the Position 5 race, Highlands professor Luis Ortiz prevailed, besting candidates Alexis Mamaux and Carlos Perea.

Voters also approved bonds for both the East and West districts as well as West's 2-mill levy.
