A 6-year-old Las Vegas boy on his bicycle sustained minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle near his home on the 2400 block of Calle Alegre Sunday night.
The boy, Daniel E. Gonzales, was taken to Alta Vista Regional Hospital where he was treated for abrasions. Officers responding to the accident determined that the crash was due to pedestrian error. The driver, 16-year-old Dominique Miranda, was not cited.
According to a police report filed in the case, the accident happened just after 8 p.m.
Miranda was traveling north on Calle Alegre when the boy on the bike came out in front of her, the police report states.
Miranda told police she didn’t see the boy until she struck him. She told police she stopped immediately after the collision.
A passenger in Miranda’s vehicle told police she saw the boy on the bicycle come from behind a parked van. She said she tried to warn Miranda about the boy, but the vehicle had struck him before Miranda had time to stop.
