Bomb threat forces evacuations in Mora

Students at the Mora Independent School District were ushered out of their classrooms and evacuated from their school buildings shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday because of a bomb threat.

Details about the bomb threat were sketchy as calls to the district’s administration office went directly to voicemail.

But the district did send out a global email to parents saying, “Bomb threat against school being taken seriously. For safety reasons, all students including Holman evacuated to St. Gertrudes Church.”

Parents were allowed to pick up their children at St. Gertrude, and by one parent’s account, three-fourths of the students had been picked up by parents as of late Tuesday morning.

The bomb threat disrupted the state-mandated SBA testing, which Mora students were to have begun taking Tuesday.

The original SBA testing schedule for the district had testing continuing on Wednesday and concluding on Thursday.
