The Las Vegas branch of the American Association of University Women is offering scholarship opportunities to New Mexico Highlands University main campus female students.

The application deadline is April 16. One or more eligible students will be awarded $1,000 scholarships.

Applicants must have demonstrated that they are capable of and committed to earning an undergraduate or graduate degree from Highlands. They must also live in Las Vegas or surrounding communities.

To be considered for this AAUW scholarship, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• Be a nontraditional female student, 24 years of age or older, or if younger, with children.

• If an undergraduate, be currently enrolled at the Highlands University main campus taking 12 credit hours or more, with a declared major. Must have completed at least 48 college credit hours within the past five years.

• If a graduate student, be currently enrolled in a graduate program at the university’s main campus, taking at least nine credit hours.

• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the two most recent semesters.
Be seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree that will not be completed before fall 2012.
