5 run for mayor; Moore unopposed

Eleven residents filed their papers on Tuesday to run for municipal offices in the March 4 election.

Mayor Henry O. Sanchez will face four candidates in his bid for a fourth two-year term. His opponents are former state employee Tonita Gurul-Giron; Gary Ludi, the state hospital’s emergency management coordinator; City Councilman Tony Marquez; and Las Vegas City Schools board member Ramon “Swoops” Montao. All had announced before Tuesday, the only day to file with the city clerk’s office.
