A man has been charged with stabbing a woman during a domestic dispute.

Cruz Gallegos, 18, faces two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon against a household member, a third-degree felony. He also is charged with counts of child abuse, false imprisonment, aggravated assault of a household member and tampering with evidence.

Gallegos remains at large, and police are seeking any information on his whereabouts.

On Nov. 10, Gallegos started by slapping and punching his victim, interim Police Chief Christian Montaño said. Then he stabbed her in the left leg with a pocketknife, the chief said.

Montaño said the woman’s injuries aren’t life-threatening.

Gallegos also choked the woman and held her against her will, police said. The couple’s 3-month-old baby was near them during the fight, which prompted the child abuse charge.
