Amanda “Boom Boom” Crespin is on a roll.
But the Las Vegas fighter faces a fellow New Mexico boxer who is also riding a win streak into this coming Friday’s pro card in Albuquerque.
Brenda Gonzales, 30, of Moriarty is 2-0 as a pro, although she hasn’t fought in a sanctioned bout in a year and a half. Her victories came against Stephanie Maestas and Bridgette Ruiz, both in their in-ring debuts. The more recent bout was a four-round unanimous decision over Ruiz at the Hard Rock Casino in Albuquerque on June 4, 2011.
After finishing 2012 with two victories, Crespin, 21, has improved to 6-4-1 with two wins by knockout. She defeated D.J. Morrison (3-13-0) and the debuting Raquel Olivas just three weeks apart in September on cards held in Pueblo, Colo., and Santa Fe, respectively. She knocked out Olivas in the first round on Sept. 22.
Friday’s match is scheduled for four rounds.
The fight is part of a Johnny Tapia Presents card Friday night at the Crowne Plaza in Albuquerque. In the dual main events, Josh “Pitbull” Torres (9-2-1, 4 KOs) faces Bernardo Guereca (16-16-1, 3 KOs), while “Hurricane” Hector Munoz (20-9-1, 13 KOs) tangles with Jeremiah Torres (7-20-0, 1 KO). The undercard includes Siju Shabazz vs. Anthony Jones and Paul Castillo vs. Saunito Hogue.

Notes: Arturo Crespin (8-2-1, 3 KOs) had been slated to fight in January but withdrew due to family reasons. He last fought Oct. 27, stopping Jose Garcia in the sixth round of their scheduled eight-rounder at the Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque. Sister Amanda was supposed to also fight on that card, but her opponent withdrew just prior to the bout ...
Meadow City native Frankie Archuleta (27-10-1, 14 KOs) is tentatively scheduled to fight Corey McConnell (11-0-1) on April 4 for the vacant International Boxing Organization’s Asia Pacific featherweight title. The contest is to take place in Southport, Queensland, Australia, McConnell’s hometown.
