For the second time in five days, Caitlin Diefendorf scored four goals, and Robertson had little trouble dispatching Monte del Sol 11-1 Saturday in Santa Fe.
Morgan Diefendorf and Elena Martinez each added two goals and one assist. “Amber Yara had a spectacular day out on the flank with one goal and two assists from the midfield,” said RHS head coach Ian Williamson. “Katie Houdek also dominated both as a defender and as an attacker with one goal and two assists.”
Tori Gallegos rounded out the scoring with one goal and an assist “and an unusually good stepover move to go free down the wing,” Williamson said.
“At this point, one-third of the way through the season, the Beastie girls are proving to be extremely resilient defensively,” he said, noting the team’s five shutouts and a .667 goals-against average.
“(Goalkeeper) Ashley Jaramillo is having a great year in the nets, and Katie Houdek, Kristen Montaño, Sonya Lane, Alicia Jaramillo, Siah Trudell-Mills and Erika Baca are keeping most offenses from even reaching the goal.”
Of course, there’s that glittering offense, which has generated 66 goals, and average of more than seven a match.
Robertson has a busy week ahead, visiting Pojoaque Valley on Wednesday, then hosting Class 4A Capital on Thursday before journeying to Socorro on Saturday.
