Jose Encinias
Boarding home owners sentenced

The second floor courtroom echoed with anguished cries after District Judge Abigail Aragon imposed the maximum sentence allowed under a plea agreement for the Las Vegas couple charged in the 2013 deaths of their two boarding home residents.

Aragon sentenced Jose Encinias on Monday to 10 years in prison. His wife, Denise Encinias, was sentenced to five years of supervised probation.

Without the plea agreement, each was facing up to 30 years in prison.
